The customer is experiencing issues with PageFly pages not displaying correctly when previewing an unpublished (draft) Shopify theme or right after switching to a new theme.

PageFly is designed to work with the published, live theme on your Shopify store. To resolve this issue:

  1. Publish Your Theme: Ensure the theme you are working with is the currently published theme.
  2. Global Styling: Use the global styling feature so styling is consistent across all themes. [https://help.pagefly.io/page-structure-and-elements/editor/extra-functions/global-styling-feature]
  3. Theme Sync: When you publish a new theme, PageFly pages will automatically adapt to the new theme's settings. Saved sections can also be used within the published theme. For theme switching process, refer to: [https://help.pagefly.io/manual/switch-theme-process-in-pagefly/]
  4. Publish Your Theme: Ensure the theme you are working with is the currently published theme.
  5. Republish affected PageFly pages: After publishing a new theme or migrating PageFly content from an old theme to a new one, some pages may not sync immediately. Open the affected pages in PageFly and republish them.
  6. Check theme integration: If the page is still blank, empty, or looks different from the editor after changing themes, make sure the PageFly app header code is included in your theme's theme.liquid file before the </head> tag.
  7. Hide other templates in the theme editor when needed: If the live product page looks different from the PageFly editor, check the theme editor and hide other theme templates so only the PageFly template is shown.
  8. Global Styling: Use the global styling feature so styling is consistent across all themes. [https://help.pagefly.io/page-structure-and-elements/editor/extra-functions/global-styling-feature]
  9. Theme Sync: When you publish a new theme, PageFly pages will automatically adapt to the new theme's settings. Saved sections can also be used within the published theme. For theme switching process, refer to: [https://help.pagefly.io/manual/switch-theme-process-in-pagefly/]

  2. If the issue only affects theme parts not built with PageFly: Elements such as the theme header, announcement bar, or other theme-native sections cannot be edited in PageFly. In that case, you will need to troubleshoot them in your Shopify theme or contact your theme support.

Grant Shopify store access to technical support

If the technical team needs to check an issue directly in your store, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Shopify admin.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Click Users and permissions.
  4. Find the pending collaborator access request.
  5. Review the request and accept it if you want to allow access.
  6. Return to the chat and confirm that the request has been approved.

If needed, also share the PageFly editor URL of the affected page so the team can check the correct page faster.

If you cannot approve the request yourself, ask the store owner or admin to review and accept it.

After changing your theme, if PageFly pages display incorrectly

If your PageFly pages look broken, empty, or different from the editor after a theme change, try the following steps:

  1. Republish the affected PageFly pages.
  2. Ensure the PageFly Extension is enabled in your theme (missing extension may cause layout issues or conflicts).
  3. Hide default theme sections in the Shopify theme editor if they appear above or below your PageFly content.
  4. Check for missing scripts or integration issues in the updated theme. Contact theme support if header/footer or theme‑managed parts break.

Notes

  • PageFly pages cannot be properly previewed on an unpublished Shopify theme.
  • In this context, republish means clicking the Publish button on the PageFly page again after the theme change.
